After the fantastic experience in October 2016 (482 participants from 39 countries) we have decided to organise a second European Meeting on enhanced natural healing in dentistry in Leuven (September 8-9th, 2018).
The last 2 decades many strategies have been developed to improve/accelerate the healing of both hard and soft tissues, primarily via the use of different substitutes/bio-materials (sometimes even including growth factors), and membranes (non- /resorbing) were introduced to exclude unwanted tissues. More recently L-PRF came in the picture. L-PRF (leucocyte and platelet rich fibrin) is a second generation platelet concentrate. It is made from patient’s own blood, without any addition. It can be used as a hard/soft tissue substitute, as a membrane, or for the preparation of a bone block.
Until today, more than 500 peer reviewed papers have been published on the benefits of L-PRF in soft and hard tissue regeneration. Most papers are dealing with intra-oral applications such as: infra-bony craters, soft tissue dehiscencies, MRONJ, plastic periodontal surgery, ridge preservation, sinus augmentation, osseo-integration, immediate implant placement, peri-implantitis, …. . But more and more, L-PRF is also applied extra-orally. It has already shown clear benefits in the healing of: burns, diabetic feet, venous leg ulcers, chronic wounds (e.g. in the face or on the skull after tumor resection), etc.
An essential benefit is that these platelet concentrate protocols reduces significantly the costs for our patients, due to the ease of use and inexpensive preparation.
During the meeting in 2018 we would like to share, with you, the advances we have made in fundamental research, but especially to give other teams the chance to chair their observations and discoveries.
Your contribution to ENHD 2018 is warmly welcomed and we invite you to submit a scientific abstract via the conference website (available from November 15th until February 15th 2018).
Please note following important dates
§ Abstract submission opens : 15/11/2017
Most promising abstracts can be selected for an oral presentation (to be indicated during submission). Authors that are selected for an oral presentation (15 min + 5 Q&A) will be granted free access to the conference on 08 - 09/09. The abstracts will be scored blinded by an independent jury.
You can submit an abstract for one of the 5 following topics :
