On behalf of the local organizing committee, we are very honored to host the 59th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Neurology (JSN) between May 23 and May 26, 2018. The meeting will be held across three major facilities, Royton Sapporo, Nitori Culture Hall and Hotel Sapporo Geibunkan, and Sapporo Education and Culture Hall. All these facilities are located close to each other in Sapporo, the capital city of Hokkaido.
The main theme of this meeting will be “Overcome the Challenges of Neurological Disorders.” Recent rapid advances in molecular mechanisms of neurological disorders, cell engineering, neuroimaging, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and other fields exert influence not only on medicine itself but also on social systems, policies, and economics related to medicine. We are now creating a program that takes these progressions and prospects into account and hope you will participate in active discussions and up-to-date lectures by top neurologists in Japan and guests from around the world.
Many flights connect Chitose (Sapporo) and Haneda (Tokyo) airports, as well as other local airports throughout Japan. The Seikan Tunnel, the longest undersea tunnel in the world, also connects Honshu, the main island of Japan, with the northern island of Hokkaido. In addition to the efficient transportation network, late May in Sapporo is not only the most beautiful but also the most pleasant time to visit. Snow can be seen covering the peaks of distant mountains and trees and fields are lush with grass and flowers. We believe that all visitors will enjoy this Annual Meeting of the JNS and hope that this meeting would provide a great opportunity for you to learn more about and enjoy Hokkaido.
